Deck expansion

Here is a deck expansion project. We removed the original handrail and decking, extended the deck, added a roof and installed a hog wire railing.

Here is the original deck.

We added about 6 posts and tied a shed roof back into the house.

Here is the roof with framing completed and handrails going up.

Here is a shot after completion of the screen.

The exterior was cedar siding.

The interior is  pine bead board.

A look at the hog wire railing, complete with a dog gate.

Montford Living Room

After wrapping up the Music Room, we put the Living Room on the schedule. The plan was to do the radiator covers and incorporate both storage and seating. We went with a seat that had a pull out drawer for blankets and such.

Below is one radiator.

This is the other side of the room at the entrance.

A view from the door to the Living Room.

The same view after installation.

Here is the drawer open.

Montford Music Room

We did a bathroom and bedroom renovation upstairs on this house around the holidays. The home was built in the 1890's. This is the front "parlor" room that the homeowner wanted to convert into his music room. We enclosed the radiators and included 2 window seats, a lower cabinet, upper shelves for albums, and a custom desk with back lighting for his wall guitars.

Here is the room before we started.

The radiator covers and 1 window seat are coming together.

Here is the desk area.

To the right of window seat 1 is a lower cabinet with doors and more album storage.

Finally, the finished oak desk top with LED back lighting for the guitars.

Square Deltec

Deltec Building Company hired us to set the panels and install siding on this square home. The foundation is Superior Walls with a brick veneer.

Day 1 of sorting through the materials and installing the floor system.

After the floor system was set, we built the front deck and posts. This allowed us to set the front porch beams with the crane. We had a crane for 1 day. We set all the wall panels and put the interior wall panels on the deck.

We set as many roof trusses as possible and finished the trusses with a lull.

No picture shown, but we had the house dried in about 5 days.

After the interior wall panels were set, we started siding. Here is the side of the house where you access the front door.

Here is the same side, with a view past the future steps. The gable ends were Nichiha cement shakes.

Here is the porch ceiling. Hardie panels and wrapped beams.

Here is a view of the house front.

This is the right side.

 Back of the house.

Here is the back. There will be a deck built where the French Doors are located.

Montford Ave

This project spanned the holidays. We started right after Thanksgiving and worked into January. The house was built in 1890 and is in the historic neighborhood of Asheville. The homeowner bought the house in the fall and wanted to re-configure the upstairs. There were 4 bedrooms and one bathroom upstairs. One of the bedrooms was not much larger than an office. We decided to turn the small bedroom into a master bathroom and closet. We then closed off the old bathroom, re-configured it and opened it into the guest bedroom.

Below is the original bathroom. We removed the boiler and put a door into the guest room. We removed and reused the claw foot tub in the master bath.

Once the claw foot was removed, this became the location for the vanity. The toilet location moved next to the vanity and the new tiled surround tub moved to where the toilet used to be. This view is from the old doorway into this bathroom. This has been covered and is inside the master toilet room.

The wall from the guest bedroom. This becomes the door into the guest bath.

Here is the same view, but with the door.

From the doorway, you can see into the re-configured guest bath. Between the attic door and the shower is the wall and wainscoting that used to be the door into this bathroom.

We installed the new tub with tile, tiled the floor, installed new fixtures, bath fan and mirror. We reused the toilet and sink.

Below is the Master Suite renovation. This is the room before we started. The boiler was removed and is now where the vanity and shower are located.

The back left corner is now where the claw foot tub is located.

This is the hallway to the original bathroom. That door was moved and is now a wall. The Master Toilet room is between that wall and the entrance into the bathroom/ closet.

Floor demo. Getting ready for plumbing rough in.
This demolished floor will become tile and the rest remains hardwood for the closet area.

Below is the custom shower. The shower sits about exactly where the pile of flooring is in the picture above.

Here is the custom closets system.
Make a left at this end piece and you are in the bathroom.

 This is the vanity.
